Women Against Abuse serves a highly diverse population. The majority of clients receiving direct services (including shelter, legal aid and transitional housing) are low income.

In fiscal year 2011, WAA served more than 15,600 individuals through a combination of direct services, education, advocacy and outreach:

• 615 individuals by emergency shelter
  52% adults / 48% children
• 62 individuals by transitional housing
  33% adults / 67% children
  
• 49 families by aftercare support
• 5,118 individuals by legal services
  361 by attorney representation / 3,342 by court advocacy / 1,415 by telephone counseling
• 8,147 individuals by education and training
• 9,515 calls were answered by the Philadelphia Domestic Violence Hotline*

The following client ethnicities were reported in FY 2011:

• 48% African American
• 23% Caucasian
• 14% American Indian, Pacific Islander, Other, Unknown
• 13% Latina/Hispanic
• 2% Asian
