On Thursday, November 4, I’ll be attending (and judging, along with Jen Carroll) Dish It Up!, a culinary competition that raises money for Women Against Abuse, Philly’s strongest advocate for victims of domestic violence, at the Moore College of Art and Design from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
It’s all ladies, all the time participating in this event. Chefs include Marcie Turney of Lolita/Bindi/Barbuzzo, Moon Krapugthong of Mango Moon/Chabaa Thai and Lynn Rinaldi of Paradiso — each will be creating a dish that contains a purple ingredient (purple being the official color of the anti-domestic violence movement). Attendees will be able to try all of the dishes, plus cocktails from Chick’s bartender (and winner of this year’s Best of Philly award for her awesome cocktailing skills) Phoebe Esmon. The winner will walk home with the coveted Purple Dish award.I also judged last year and it was a blast — and all for a great cause. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased via http://www.womenagainstabuse.org or at the door. All proceeds will benefit Women Against Abuse.Click through for a full list of participating chefs and more information.
