Philly Domestic Abuse Shelter Seeks Items For Dispossessed

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia’s domestic violence shelter is asking the public to help its families enjoy the holiday season.

One hundred thirty-two women and children are being sheltered this holiday season by Women Against Abuse — women and children who could use some holiday cheer.
Jeannine Lisitski is executive director.
“The families who we serve in our shelter and our transitional shelter have often had to flee their homes with nothing, just for their physical safety,” she explained to KYW Newsradio, “and we provide a confidential location and safety for them as they rebuild their lives.”
What’s needed?  Coats, hats, scarves, toys, and pajamas in various sizes for women and children.  All items must be new and unwrapped.  You can drop them off Monday and Tuesday at the Berean Institute, 19th Street and Girard Avenue.
