Staff Attorney (Part-Time)

Description: Provides legal representation to victims of domestic violence across a range of issues, including protections from abuse, child custody, support and any related matter of legal significance.
 
Requirements:  A Juris Doctorate, with a current license to practice law in the State of Pennsylvania; Familiarity with the court system in regard to domestic violence issues; Experience with legal representation to victims of domestic violence; Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to effectively represent an advocacy agency or function; Demonstrated ability to organize time and detail, including keeping of records; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population; Demonstrated commitment to service of others; Completion of the 40-hour Domestic Training Class is required (pre or post hire) Bilingualism, Spanish/English is strongly preferred. All candidates upon hire must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI), child abuse clearances and a pre-employment physical.
 
This is a part-time position of 32 hours per week Monday thru Friday, between 9 am and 5pm flexibility is required Salary is commensurate with experience as well as a generous benefits package. *note: for candidates with DV legal experience there may be an opportunity to reduce the scheduled hours per week to between 30- 24 hrs

Child Education Services Manager 

Description: Provide and ensure mission-focused vision and leadership within the Children’s Educational Services Program of our Emergency Shelter. The Educational Services Program provides trauma informed child care services for pre-school children and a summer camp program for elementary children age K-6. The Children’s Educational Services Manager will assess our current learning center program, and develop an after school program for elementary age children grades K-6, teen support programming for youth grades 7 – 12 and expand our therapeutic services. The Manager will also be responsible for: program development, curriculum development and implementation; program enrollment and intake; coordinating and expanding therapeutic educational services and programs offered to the children and their families; program documentation and reporting; and the management/supervision of the Early Childhood Specialist and 2-3 after school master’s level interns (2-3 per semester).

Requirements: Masters of Education or related Master Degree; A minimum of (2) two years experience in urban education; Two (2) years supervisory experience; Prior experience with K-6 education program and/or curriculum development; Classroom experience in developing and implementing educational and recreational activities for elementary aged students K-6; Strong organizational and administrative skills; Demonstrated experience working with populations impacted by trauma; Critical thinking and problem solving skills; Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with individuals from diverse populations; Demonstrated proficiency in communication, both verbal and in writing; Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills (MS Office Suite – Word, Excel, etc..); Some experience in working on domestic violence issues is strongly preferred; Knowledge of child development and learning styles a plus; Experience in social services preferred; Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred; Must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI) and child abuse clearances.

This is a full time position with core hours Monday thru Friday, flexible schedule between 8 am and 8 pm. Salary is commensurate with experience as well as a generous full benefits package.

Crisis Intervention Counselor (Part Time)

Job Description: Responsible for answering hotline calls and providing information and referrals; crisis intervention; emergency shelter intake screening; providing supportive counseling to residential clients and assisting clients and other staff in establishing and maintaining a safe and supportive community environment.

Qualifications: An Associate’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is required; some crisis counseling experience required; demonstrated effective crisis intervention and proficiency in verbal and written communication are required; experience working with victims of domestic violence is preferred and proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred. Requires the completion of the 45-hour Domestic Violence training (offered & paid by WAA). All candidates upon hire must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI), child abuse clearances and a pre-employment physical.

Schedule: Saturday and Sunday 11 pm to 7 am. Salary of $13.70 an hour, paid time off but no medical benefits. Location: Emergency Shelter

Residential Advisor (Two Part Time positions available)

Job Description: Responsibilities include providing general support of individual women and their children and general overall house monitoring. All responsibilities are expected to be delivered satisfactorily and with superior customer service.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required with at least one (1) year experience in an advocacy, crisis or shelter support position along with completion of the 45-hour Domestic Violence Training. Bilingualism is strongly preferred. Requires the completion of the 45-hour Domestic Violence training (offered & paid by WAA). All candidates upon hire must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI), child abuse clearances and a pre-employment physical.

Schedule: Monday – Friday 9am to 1 pm or Monday – Friday 5 pm to 9 pm. Salary of $11.67 an hour, paid time off but no medical benefits. Location: Emergency Shelter

Food Assistant/Cook (Relief)

Job Description: As needed, cover various shifts within the kitchen of our Emergency Shelter (kitchen is staffed Monday – Sunday 6 am to 7 pm). The Food Assistant/Cook responsibilities include planning, preparing, and serving meals and snacks to shelter residents. Additionally, maintains overall cleanliness of the kitchen/food storage area and dinning room. All responsibilities are expected to be delivered satisfactorily and with superior customer service.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required with at least 2 years experience in food preparation in an institutional setting. Demonstrated knowledge of dietary menu preparation and state regulations for food preparation and storage. Bilingualism is strongly preferred. ServeSafe Certification preferred or will be required to obtain and maintain post hire. Requires the completion of the 45-hour Domestic Violence training (offered & paid by WAA). All candidates upon hire must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI), child abuse clearances and a pre-employment physical.

We provide services on a twenty-four hour, seven days a week basis. Your hours will be on an as-needed basis. Salary of $11.00 an hour and no benefits. Location: Emergency Shelter

Security Coordinator (Relief)

Job Description: As needed, cover various shifts at our Emergency Shelter (Shelter is staffed 24/7). Ensures the security and safety of staff, clients, and visitors to the Emergency Shelter in concert with established shelter and agency policies and procedures. Monitors security cameras, conducts security rounds, and oversees sign-in log. All responsibilities are expected to be delivered satisfactorily, with superior customer service and a focus on safety.

Qualifications: A High School Diploma or the equivalent is required and a minimum of 1 to 3 years of security experience required. Work within a human services or healthcare environment is preferred. The ability to read, write, and comprehend English is required. Bilingualism is strongly preferred. Requires the completion of the 45-hour Domestic Violence training (offered & paid by WAA). All candidates upon hire must satisfactorily pass criminal (state & FBI), child abuse clearances and a pre-employment physical.
